2008 Heart Strings Gala, an evening of festive fund-raising to benefit the Children's Grief Center. Held in the home of Beth & Bob Lloyd of Jackson.

The McClean Center and the Junior League of Jackson held its Life Changes Literary Competition as an outreach into the community. It was promoted to the Greater Jackson area along with communities served by Hospice Minsitries. Eight schools competed int he three categories of poetry, short-fiction and short non-fiction. |
Winners were Behnaz Ahmed, Mary Anne Bagleym, Anne Gamble, Whitney Gilchrist, Elizabeth Jones, Clara Martin, Anastasia Varenita, Margaret Sullivan and Ann Stallings.

This fall the McClean Center received a donation of a wonderful outdoor playhouse(pictured at the immediate left). It was donated by the Mack family in memory of Bobby Mack. This playhouse will be a wonderful addition to our new center scheduled to be finished in fall of '08. The new center(pictured at far left)is located on Northview Drive off Old Canton Rd. in Northeast Jackson.

The Catholic Heartwork Camp came to Jackson again this year for the second year bringing over 400 students from across the country to help non-profits with labor needs. We would lucky to have some of their wonderful young people help us with the much needed hard labor and clean up for our new McClean Fletcher Center (top left)and Hospice Ministries. The students worked out in the hot sun
for four days tearing down doors and cabinets and clearing out the new building for the McClean Fletcher Center along with weeding, painting and cleaning windows at Hospice Ministries Inpatient facility in Ridgeland.We cannot express how grateful we are to these hard working young people who pay to come and work hard to help others in cities across the country.
